Xiao Yuanwu

Associate Professor

Biography :

  Xiao Yuanwu is an associate professor of the Music Department in the School of Arts at RUC. She specializes in Chinese folk Music, musical pedagogy and Comparative Studies on Chinese and Western Music. She is also a member of the International Association for Aesthetics, a member of the Music Education Professional Committee of the China Association of Higher Education, and served as the Acting Chinese Director at the Confucius Institute of Helsinki University in Finland.


Education:

  Graduated from Music Conservatory of China and Chinese National Academy of Arts; Visiting Scholar in School of Music at Northwest University, USA; Visiting Scholar in School of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts, Japan.


Research Interests:

  Research interests include Chinese folk music, musical pedagogy, and Comparative Studies on Chinese and Western Music.

  Held a recital in Kunitachi Concert Hall,Tokyo,2000 Vocal performance on the 135th Anniversary Concert of Alexander Theater in Helsinki, Finland, 2015


Awards:

  Excellent Guide Teacher Award in Lied Competition of Beijing University Students in 2001.

  Excellent Award of Project “The study on public arts education teaching model”, awarded by Renmin University of China.
