Guo Chunning

Chunning (Maggie) Guo has 20 years of teaching and research in the field of New Media Art and Animation in the School of Fine Arts at Renmin University of China. She was a visiting scholar in Vancouver Film School in Canada. She was invited to give the workshop at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne in 2013. She was invited as a resident researcher at Central Saint Martins of the University of the Arts, London and she was also a resident artist at Centre Intermondes of La Rochelle in France. She was selected by the Sino-Dutch scholarship as a visiting scholar in Radboud University in the Netherlands.


She holds a Master’s Degree in Digital Media Design from China Central Academy of Fine Arts. She recieved her PhD degee from Philosophy School of Renmin University of China in 2015.


Her animation work has been screened at more than 20 international film and animation festivals and received the Best Short at the Chinese Independent Film Festival in 2014 and the NETPAC Award at the Busan International Short Film Festival in 2015.


She has published more than 30 papers in local and international journals, including Contemporary Cinema, Contemporary Animation, Aesthetics, Art Education, National Art, Croatian Cinema, Cartoon and Animation Studies, Epistémè, and Global Animation Theory published by Bloomsbury in New York.
