Xu Weixin, acting dean of the School of Arts, gave a lecture to faculty and students at UCLA on March 13. The topic was “A Survey of Modern Chinese Art: Thought and Practice”. The lecture was hosted by UCLA’s Department of Art History and the Confucius Institute. UCLA’s art history professor Li Huishu translated. Li is a graduate of Yale University’s East Asian Art doctoral program. The lecture introduced new Chinese art and the progress of contemporary art since 1976.
