In 1998, he graduated from the School of Letters at Ritsumeikan University (Japan) with a doctorate in literature.
In 2002, he worked as a full-time teacher of Chinese subjects in the School of Letters of Bukkyo University (Japan).
In 2007, he returned to China and served as the professor, deputy dean and director of the calligraphy studio of the Chinese Painting Academy of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.
Since 2020, he has been a professor in the Painting Department of the Art College of Renmin University of China.
He is currently the Deputy Chairman of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Art and Theory Majors of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education (2013~2017, 2018~2022); Director and member of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Calligraphers Association.
